Good news! Tony’s revamp of the AI system is going along quite well. Stuck workers have been more or less eradicated. Here’s a quick shot of my settlers building three houses simultaneously while also restocking some stockpiles with wood.
This has been a big effort, and while there’s still a little more work to do, we’re almost there.
The Next Alpha Release
Once the new system has been adequately debugged, we’ll push out a new Alpha release. Optimistically that should certainly come this week, but it’s possible that it will fall out to early next week. This has been a pretty fundamental change in the way AI works, so we need to test and bulletproof all the major systems in the game.
After that, we’ll continue knocking out the most annoying issues in the game, like fixing the fact that roofs are not built and adding (drumroll…) The Save Feature! Our goal is to resume our more rapid pace of updates after this next patch. Unfortunately the AI change was deep and fundamental enough that we couldn’t chop it up across multiple releases, and it just took several weeks to get right.
